never known the difference really. it just seems that people up their own arses like to say they have a career.

do you need a portfolio manager and a bottom of the range tag heuer watch to say you have a career?

I think its what YOU make of it tbh.

the average person would probably see a trolly dolly at tesco as a job, others would see that as a step on the ladder to becoming management.

When I started sales, I did door2door for a while(that was a job) but I knew I wanted to be in sales and used my experience there to get the job/where I am today which I would say is a career(I went to sales exec, to store manager to now owning a franchise)

People who moan about working and dislike their position call it a 'job'

People who are a little more optimistic and positive about things will say a career.

That's just stereotypical. I know plenty of teachers that're happy.

I would say a job is something you go to day to day, a career is a position you have worked to achieve and enjoy.

Career - you clock in each day ready to excel yourself and aspire to be better.

Job - you clock in each day prepared to do the minimum just happy to take a wage.

if you've worked hard to get somewhere and enjoy it you usually get a lot more money than when you started.

must just be me who doesn't really enjoy going to work and earning money then, bunch of jobsworths in here.

Pretty much same as said but I'd put it in terms of job satisfaction and enjoyment, you are either working in a job or forgeing a career in a certain area. If retail was your area you might see trolley dolly as a start of a career.

its the norm yeah. but you could work hard to get a new position that gives a lower workload for a slight pay increase etc but you love it. surprisingly a lot of people put job satisfaction before money. i on the other hand am driven 90% by money

I would be happy earning what I earn now with a better company. I see my job as a career.

This. Although I would say it is possible to have a job without a career.

Thirded, although I'd extend job to mean something you're simply doing for income. For example my career is as a mechanical engineer but I've had a job working in a car wash

id say a job is something you just go to for the money and not really in the field you want to be in.

carear is a job you enjoy going to in the area you studied/studying in and want to go further within.
