Been thinking of starting a build thread for a while. Enjoy reading others so thought i'd pull the finger out and start one of my own.

Well better start from the beginning and the reason i decided to build this car.

Some of you may recognise this car.

Bought it a couple of years ago from a member on here. At the time i was looking for a toy for the summer. A bike had already been ruled out by the girlfriend so was set on another LET. After several months of trouble free fun came the snow. Took the car off the road with the intention of freshening it up and putting my own touches to it. However this was the end.

Stripped the car down to find nothing but excessive rust, poor repair welding/patches and not much metal left under the arches.

After a couple months away from the car i decided that i'd have a go at building one the way i wanted. So searched and found a perfect base. Found a 1.0 12v in Bristol which is about an 800 mile round trip for me. Was worth it tho.. Car has only covered 40k, never been painted, totally standard and one owner from new.

I've no pictures of the car when i bought it but here are some of it at the point i'm at now. It's far from finished, however making good progress.

I've so many pictures of progress so i'll slowly update when i've a chance.

Thanks for looking and hope it makes good reading.

Over the months i've been ordering a lot of stuff from Vauxhall and Keiron (very helpful) at Autovaux.

Bought New Genuine Vauxhall Body Panels and Attaching Parts.

Got a set of Cesaro Alloys refurbished in Silver

And a set of Nankangs to go on them. Not the best tyre but they seem to be ok in the summer/dry days which is the only days the car will be used.

Which together make

Hi Spec 4 Pots. These were originally gold but didn't really like them so got them done in red.

Please, lets not. Theres enough bullshit and spam running through this site so lets not fill Owen's thread with the same crap. Agreed, the bodywork needed more attention but that's the one thing I didn't do and the guy who did isn't here to discuss it so thats that. Feel free to U2U me any internet blaggarding, I've heard it all before.

Anyway, nice to see you have a thread up mate, be good to see the results.

Thanks guys for all your comments. I'm at work just now so will update again tonight.

I'd have to agree with Jay. Not wanting any debates. I decided that it was easier, quicker and would be happier if I bought a fresher shell.

Hi Guys,

I probably will be putting the GSi kit on to it. Think the intercooler is suited best behind the GSi bumper.

I bought the panels from various Vauxhall dealerships around the UK. The doors each were meant to be £320 plus the vat and think both the boot and bonnet weren't too far off of that also, however managed to get them cheap cheap thanks to some helpful people. Although not pictured yet i've a set of front Genuine front wings that were meant to be approx £100 each.

I sold as much as i could from the GSi to get money back to pay for the new parts. Got reasonable money for the stuff so hasn't hit the wallet too hard.

Removed engine tonight from car. Unbelievable how easy it was to do. Can't see the LET being the same.

Before

Removed - Is it worth trying to sell the 1.0 engine? Seems to good to scrap.

After

Also tonight tried deciding where to relocate the battery?

Thought of here

or directly behind the passenger front seat. Just trying to think what would benefit the car best?
