Hi just got it back from passing mot ,but it got abad smell of petrol fumes ,its been standing in the drive for 10 mths at its last owners its done 127k miles .Could it be that it needs a go run and an engine service ,plugs air filter oil/filter change any ideas welcome thanks .

Two main places for that are the seem on the tank, will rust and leak, or the fuel pipes coming in to the injector rail, right side of the engine at the top, needs the cover off.

does it smell inside the car or just outside?

if its inside it will more than likley be a breather hose in the engine bay

Water or fuel? That could also indicate its running rich.

How long you run it for? Not long and that might be residual water in the system.

Did you have a look at the pipes?

Took pipes off big round black 3 inch dia thing +a sm round one with filter in and that is all clean. its got a 4inch boy racer back box on. someones told mr these are brone to condest up bigtime .ta?
