getting good insurance quotes on these atm and fancy the mk1 shape
whats good / bad about running these? common faults etc
expensive running / maintenance?

Low maintainence costs, nothing breaks lol.
Problems, they leak and they're low, so speed bumps are a pain.
I want another.

down sides
look like a girl, not that fast and most are probably a bit rotten
good bits
mint fun to drive , rwd , lots of modified ones.

cant hard tops be bought for these? whats the craic with lsd models, whats out there? what extras? what came with what?
abs? lasd? leather? aircon? powersteering? hardtops? etc etc....
also 1500 - 2000£ will get me a good cond. basic model?

Most of the imports will have an LSD and aircon.
Hardtops are available but expensive.
Loads of tuning goodies out thwre

I would expect that 2k would get you a really good example, mk2 are only 2500.
A great car that hardly anyone buys.
I was looking for a mk2 a little while ago with 2.5k to spend, 98+ but fuel costs and insurance costs put me of, nice if you can get decent quotes. Oh and the crappy price of road tax.

My dad paid £1800 for his 10th Anni. just 2 months ago. 1998 import, no rust, paintwork is excellent, all it needed was a new roof as it had a tear in it.

185 g/km for the corsa 1.6 which means it "should" be £210, quite shocked at these prices.

If you're on about mk1s then tax will be the same as a 1.6 Corsa, £215 for the year. It's only cars registered on or after 1 March 2001 where it became emissions based.
