What age? Mk5 was a great car, usual ford rot but that will be easily apparent, central locking can screw up especially to the boot but again apparent. Didn't have too many problems with the ex's

Imperial blue. Rust everywhere though
My favourite hot hatch, mine had 122bhp standard.

they handle well out of the box, not fast by any means but quicker than a 1.0 corsa, would say mine was quicker than a corsa gsi also. not on par with equivelant frech offerings though. vts etc

I bought a mk5 ph1 recently, very impressed. It's standard, they handle really well, the engine is quite fun too. As said look out for rust, rear arches, underneath the weather strip in the door shut seems mos common. Probably about as quick as a vtr, but feels better put together. Don't pay too much attention to the problems people mention with ph1 engines either, keep the oil topped up and they will be fine

Mine was similar to a vts, but I did get more bhp at the RR days

Mine made 107 bhp a month or so ago and was as quick as a saxmax vtr on the straights at brands a few weeks ago. They do seem to make well over the figures ford quote, 103 I think it's supposed to be

1.4 ZetecS? Was it not just a 1.4 Zetec - No 'S'??

sure the 'S' wasn't stuck on - can't find it listed as a 'ZS' anywhere, 'ZS' was only the 1.6 16V variant. Zetec without the S was available as a 1.25 and a 1.4 in the mk4 and the 1,4 doesn't appear as an engine option on the mk5 at all
