finally got a bit of motivation for the 106 Project,
getting some spare wheels so I can get some tyres
was looking at some T1R Proxes
as I thought they were pretty good on the old VTS and GTI

You mean R1r's.
They are an imbetween T1r and r888.
T1r's are being discontinued in certain sizes and are to be fazed out altogether in favour of the T1 sport.
What is the car being used for?

No, Federal RSRs

Meant to be a touch less grip than a R888, but more tread, better wet performance and cheaper.

Toyos are known for being soft, if you drive like a dick they will wear. I did 7k on my red Ibiza, inc a track day, still had 4mm left on the fronts, around 6 on the back.

For road/track use, best off looking at the Yoko AD08 or Federal RSR.
I assume these companies are bringing out such tyres to try and get around the new legislation coming in at some point about wet performance, causing most semi-slicks to become illegal for road use
