As title.
Is my air intake and the way it fits into the front of the car correct?
The design strikes me as odd.
The car has no grille for air to enter the pipe. The 'grille' is closed plastic as shown in the pic below.
So the air intake pipe does not take air directly from outside the car, but rather from air that has rushed in through the engine bay through the small holes shown by the green arrows in the pic.

Yes that's correct, air can get in from the lower part of the bumper

Yeah mine was like that until I changed the bumper that gave it air

Hmmm, what bumper did you buy? And did your mpg then go up?
I'm a bit disappointed with the mpg of this car since I bought it. It's been regularly serviced but I can never seem to get above 36 mpg urban driving from it. And that's driving carefully too!
Is that about right from this 1.4 16v?

You can remove the cover behind the grill. 36mpg ain't too bad.

I have just removed my cover behind the grill its easy to do its just clipped on, to soon to tell if it makes any difference to mpg tho?

Do you mean the plastic behind the actual grill (at the bottom of the bumper)?
Or all the plastic including the stuff arrowed red in my pic above?

From the bottom green arrow, and the red arrows. You will be able to un clip it.

i removed my little pipe to the front and put a cold air feed to the bit it fixes to and to the lower grill
