Is this really as good as people say? Better than using back to black I take it? I'm trying to go for this sort of look with my Corsa: http://img268.imageshack.us/img268/7914/1001012x.jpg

Would I be better off spraying? They're pretty knackered pre 97 bumpers, I'll take a pic when it's light.

Complete guess but you may even find they're quite similar in terms of ingredients and therefore effectiveness. Not sure which works out cheaper.

ive also heard of using peanut butter and washing the car with johnsons baby bath

These must be cheap as fuck to buy new?

In my experience no matter which product you use to try to restore them it ends up looking like an abortion.

you could get new and then use a product to protect them. restoration of existing I am not convinced.

linseed oil apparently works well but IMO looks too shiney

just get new ones from ebay really

The heat gun trick works really well, although don't do what my old man did and poke the warm bumper 'cus you will end up with finger prints in it.

Spray them satin black, job done then and they wont fade again

I'd sy buy post 97 bumpers and respray them, if they are knackerd pre 97.

iv found using scotch cloth to key the surface then using matt black spray paint then gently heated with a heat gun works well, did all my plastics donkeys ago and they still look fine and havent peeled, take a gander in my project thread

Take it from someone who's done it, shoe polish isn't worth even thinking about. My old B had unpainted bumpers so I used shoe polish on them, it took ages and because of it being oil based you could see every colour of the rainbow in sunlight. Not to mention that it was immensely streaky. It just looked plain awful.

Get some of this and one of these - the bottle lasts ages, it's really easy to apply, and the product gives a really nice finish. Will of course need re-application after a while, but that's the same with anything other than painting them satin/matt black.

I used to use meguiars trim detailer on my old B, I found it lasted a while and wasn't too shiny!

on my corsa, i heated them up using a heatgun (be careful not to stay on one spot to long) came out very good.

on my focus though i rubbed the handles door trim and skirt down and sprayed satin black so much better

so depends what you wanna do be tight use a heatgun or spend a little bit of money. (both last a while paint more then heatgun i expect..)
