Bored out of my head waiting for my mate to return my jack so decided to start this thread.

As title suggests, whats your biggest car related cockup? Can be anything from mechanical to an embarrassing driving mistake.

Seeing as it's my thread I guess I'll start. Fitted my home designed and build flash exhaust one night before taking it out to show the lads. Got about 100 yards up the road, hit a minor bump and the whole system came down & hit the tar with a bang. Forgot to tighten up 2 mounts properly.

Timed an engine 180 degrees out before.

Also did a redtop into nova conversion and when started it was misfiring badly... checked everything possible, missus laughed and said about leads around the right way, we dismissed her quietly.

Mate said the distributors are common and he had one at home in Oxford (we were in Basildon) Drove all the way there and back, fitted it and no different.

Then realised leads were on wrong way round!

Not really major as i realised but i was servicing the car and had it jacked up on one side and whilst under the bonnet i clocked the brake fluid looked low so proceed to top it up and then remembered i had it jacked up lol. With a red face i had to drain it with the GF asking why i was doing that after just filling it up. Explained that it needed changed

Jesus wept I have got loads

My first car when I was 17 was a 1989 Seat Ibiza Sxi and I sprayed a pair of fiesta RS Turbo bonnet vents and stuck them on

An ex's 12 volt corsa, was fitting some GSi wheels and it fucked off the shitty jack I was using

S1 106 rallye - serious lift off oversteer on a wet roundabout at 3am in the morning, engine flooded (i think) as would not start for about 20 seconds and I sat in the middle of the road like a mong.

S2 106 rallye - Having not learnt my lesson from the first one had another lift off oversteer moment although managed to stop the car about 2 ft from a deep ditch

Phase 1 Vectra GSi - Paying Courtenay Sport stupid amounts of money to tune it and only ending up with 210 bhp and telling AK that hopefully it would get into the 14's

They were not functional.

I painted them in a different white to the body.

I did not lacquer them. How people must have pointed and laughed

Red stones? Is that them paving slabs?

I seen some one lower a car onto an axle stand on paving slabs before and the slab just cracked. Scary.
