got a 12 month suspended sentance and a 5 year ban..

for those who dont know the story, my brother was knocked off his bike and killed on his way to nightshift, the driver was 54 but had no licence

he pleaded guilty, from what i can gather they are saying it was un-avoidable for the driver so im guessing he didnt signal, his front light also did not work although the car came from behind

not sure how i feel, infact i think what sentance doyle got and it puts into perspective.. the legal system is shite

5 year ban, bet the cunt is still driving around.

If he was willing to drive with no license he won't be arsed about a ban.

i dont think he will, he gets caught and he gets jail... for the next 12months at least

im trying to keep an open mind, its a shit sentance but at the same time all he did was drive without a licence, he inst a murderer or a monster, just some bloke going to graft who didnt have a licence.

What doyle did was worse imo

What does a five year ban mean to someone who hasn't had a license to drive in the first place?! I'd be more than annoyed if i were in your boots, but at the same time there's not much more you can do other than to move on with your lives, and not forget the memory of your brother.

if it was because hes just never passed a test they i think its a massive reason, he more then likely wont have the proper experience that a person that had passed could have used to avoid that accident

His true sentence is having to live with having taken a life, which I can not imagine to be easy.

I have made stupid mistakes while on the roads. If one of them had cost another persons life, I could hardly live with that.

Not trying to defend the guy that killed your brother by the way, if it came across like that! Just a general observation.

54 years old...no license. Has he ever had one.

If not that should be a prison sentance IMO

This really. As you said, he didn't go out to kill your brother and it was an accident. He'll have to live the rest of his life knowing that he ended another. Not defending him in the slightest, just trying to put a bit of perspective on it. At least it adds a bit of closure to the ordeal. RIP Lee.

It makes me sick when stuff like this happens.. My neighbours 9 year old was run over and killed by a bloke in a Transit van, he didnt even stop! No license, no insurance, no mot and over the limit.. He then tried to have the van crushed to hide the evidence but he was reported by the scrap yard and hte police charged him.

He didnt even get a custodial sentance!

But thankfully he's dead now (drug problem).

Crap sentence by the judicial system, but he has a life sentence upon himself for killing him, the guilt must be intense, hope you and your family are ok.

our differences apart john, i think that sentance is still bloody useless, i think its good that you have the self restraint not to be angry, but if someone had ran my brother over, i dont know if i would feel the same way. what the hell do u need to do to get jail these days,

im sorry for your loss, its good to see you dont hold a grudge against the guy because having that sort of thing on your mind is enough to drive you crazy.
if the guys caught driving again in the next 5 years hes going to prison, so if he hasnt learnt it now he will soon.
