How do they actually work out and justify their prices?

Just got a few quotes on a few different cars... I'm sure you've all seen the same.

£734.58 - Cheapest (Admiral)
£11,328.16 - Dearest (Asda)

Imagine paying almost a grand a month for insurance!

Seems to have come down a bit again now, which is a bonus.

What would be your limit to pay for insurance?

Depends what car I'd had. My limit would probably rise a bit for something really good like a Skyline or Evo.
For a regular 2.0L n/a, I wouldn't pay anymore than £600.

My limit would be £650.

Even if I was rich I wouldn't pay a huge amount on insurance, just the principles of the whole system, but saying that if I was rich it would be cheaper due to post code lottery.

its all on risk and past customers etc. say if every male who insured a corsa with asda wrote it off and made a claim which averaged £10k then they wouldnt want to insure a male with a corsa due to risk so to offset that theyd offer a policy for more than £10k
