Hi all,

Have a Corsa 93 GSi (C16XE) that failed cam belt and head is gone.
Been told here for a repair that costs more that the car itself so i am looking for either a C16XE head or a C16XE complete engine.

However being open to any other option I would like to ask those of you that know better:

a) besides a C16XE, is any other engine type (X16E, X18XE etc) a direct swap or I have to keep looking for only C16XE ?
b) If a X16XE is found, can I use the current loom and ECU from the C16XE ?
c) as my engine's head is damaged, do I have any other options in looking for a head ? I mean, would a 14XE, 18XE or XEL or any other can work in my block with my ecu BUT NOT with my cams, as one is damaged as well ?

Thank you all in advance,
Nikos

Meaning just that the performance will be altered (lowered) or the car would be non-drivable at all or hard to drive ?

I don't think you will notice the loss of power. It will be fine with the X16 head.

you cannot run a x16xe or x14xe off the current ecu/loom you have. you will need to use the one that comes with the new engine.

C16xe uses AFM whereas x16xe doesnt

@Jed D
you mean a X16XEL head will be a direct swap to mine ?
Cams (timing, lift, duration) will be compatible to the ecu (totally stock) that i have ?

thank you

@fazza
I am a bit confused m8.
The head is a totally mechanical part, right?
So if i keep the AFM that I know have so that ECU can get the signal it wants, why wouldn't be possible to run a X14/16 head ?

thank you

Thanks for your answer.
In that case what about the sensors on the complete X14/16 engines that mine doesn't have so (logically) ecu doesn't support ?

thank you

you can use a x16xe head on your c16xe engine and keep your ecu, loom etc.

You cannot use an x16xe/x14xe engine on your ecu/loom

Thank u for the clarification.
I though u were referring to the head not a complete engine.

Cheers
