Purchased this for the massive cost of $200 (£120)

because of this

soon became this

then this appeared yesterday for a massive $450 delivered (270)

Currentley taking engine out of Calibra this weekend.

Will update when I remember to take pics as I'd rather get it done than take a pic of a ratchet in my hand, etc

Update

Now scrapped the Calibra (they where only made to be engine doner's )

Engine cleaned ready-ish for paint, amazing how knackered they dont get over here

Now got a wait for parts, mounts, gearbox spacers, throttle body adapter are being sent over by my dad, also ordered new timing belt kit, gaskets, inner cv joints, exhaust, coilovers, full Roose silicone hose kit, so the postman will be busy.

Plans are to get the thing running and on the road, paint underneath and get the engine bay spotless... then tackle the exterior and interior.

Cheers, Dave

I take it's not a common conversion over there?

Might start a craze.

Does the car have to go for some sort of inspection once the conversions complete before its on the road? I'm sure I read someones project thread years ago who had to do it, which is one of the reasons why they dont have many engine conversions apparently?

Actually, I could be confusing it with another country!

Yeah it does, you have to apply for a modification permit, then get an engineer to sign it off then it has to be inspected like an MOT, then obviously buy number plates/rego as it has run out on this one. Some people just do it without saying anything and wait to get yellow stickered then get it inspected.

Small update...

Made some 'smoked depo style' headlights

Painted up

Engine mount, gearbox spacer, ecotec pipe adaptor, PAS bracket arrived from my dad in the UK. Also got a single v alternator, pulley, PAS pump to covert from the multi v belt.

Also got a rubber sump gasket to replace the crappy cork one,

Just waiting for a full Roose silicone hose kit also a torque wrench to come to do the timing belt and water pump. Also got coilover kit coming from Ireland... hate waiting!!!

Cheers, Dave

Forgot about this as I aint one to take photo's all the time, etc

New coilovers and 2.0 brakes

New seal and CV's

Had to make some brackets for bumper

Was waiting on some new injectors as 3 weren't working, bunged the new ones in and it runs...

Current state

Paint work will be sorted eventually but gonna leave it for a bit

Now just going to make sure everyting it spot on (wiring covered, new tyres, etc) as it has to have an engineers report then inspection and they can be a paint in the arse.

Its all on the road after having it examined 3 times due to cock ups from the DOT, and general redtape.

Had fun with the odd car but not too much yet

Quick pic this evening

Got pissed of with work situations back home, final straw was landlord selling my business premises from under me. Got family here so it's been a bit easier for us.

Not really at the moment. the laquer peel is worse now just enjoying winding people up in it

Looking for a new car at the minute, undecided whether to sell this or turn it into a pure track, although the missus wants to sell it
