My MOT expires on Thursday, earliest appointment I can get it done is Thursday.
If it fails, what's the law again? Am I allowed to drive it to a garage to have it fixed or am I only allowed to drive it to the garage for the re-test?
Also, if it fails on the turbo, I'm going to take it to Warren, but he is over in Kent, am I allowed to do that?

Not sure you can drive it home tbh won't be able to take it to Kent.

you can drive to pre booked appointments to place of repair and retest

My Corsa failed on a rusty fuel tank. Drove it from Birmingham to Bucks for repair - checked with VOSA, they said there was no limit on the distance you could take it for repair. I'm not too sure what would have happened if I'd have had to explain that one to the police though.

Not as such. IIRC you could smell fuel near it as it had rusted along the seam, so it did need replacing. I naively thought Vauxhall would be able to use a pattern part or second hand tank.

ah yes there good for that, i couldnt put more than half a tank of fuel in my black and white one 
not an MOT failure though really

I would have probably have got away with it if I'd taken it in empty Could have been one of those ones where it would have passed at an MOT center, but not at a garage too.

You could also just take it to Warren Thursday evening, whilst it still has an MOT?

Mine ran out about 2 months ago 
I've been driving about quite a lot since then and been through ANPR machines and seen many police cars, so must not even be bothered to pull me over 
- But yeah, no mot = 60 pound fine with no points.
My 2 rear bald tyres however I should go get an MOT really, as I'm at a high risk of being pulled over.

iirc as soon as it fails an MOT it supercedes the one before it, so if you have it tested 2 weeks prior and it fails, you lose the 2 weeks off the previous one.
I would rather lose by a mile because i built my own car, than win by an inch because someone else built it for me.
