I've decided to hang onto the SLK and its a bit daft having 3 cars

The problem is I LOVE my megane to bits because it costs me nothing to run it to work every day and its also cheap as hell to insure plus it falls into that oh so lovely £30 tax band!

And I also love my X5 as I can load up my RC stuff or move around junk with ease.

So the plan would be to replace the X5 + Megane and to do that I need something economical with pleanty of load space, I'd also like it to be a 4x4 or cross over.

So far I'm set on a Qashqai+2 1.5 or 1.6dci:

Or go for the middle ground and get an early X3 2.0d

Any suggestions?

I like the Kuga, but they are still well over 10k.

Went to look at a Qashqai with the missus over the weekend - wasn't taken by it tbh, no longer on her list of potential cars now either, after previously being quite high on it...

I've driven a 1.5dci Tekna and I really liked it.. Good spec, Satnav, 360 degree cameras, nice interior, big boot.. Gutless though but I wasnt expecting a 1.5 diesel to move mountains. Averaged 44mpg on the test drive too, good stuff

We were actually looking to sell and upgrade a little while ago and wanted 8K. There ain't many on AT especially private and in our spec. Plus they've just been named the best second hand car buy.

Does it have to be a 4x4/cross over, not tempted with an estate?

Yep got to be 4x4/crossover really. Not a fan of estates.

Wouldnt mind a vito/v-class though

Does it not defeat the object being a 2.0 petrol?

Just to let you know, the Qashqai is around 250kg heavier then a 1.5 Megane.
