http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/worldnews/middleeast/unitedarabemirates/9356815/British-man-sentenced-to-death-in-UAE-for-selling-marijuana.html
A 21 year old Brit has been sentenced to death in the UAE for selling drugs...... Obviously we all know the laws in the middle east are taken very seriously, but the bit at the bottom of the page caught my eye.....
"In February 2011, a man convicted of raping and killing a 4-year-old boy in a mosque bathroom was executed by firing squad in Dubai. It was the first time in three years the UAE had put a prisoner to death."
Why can't we have laws like that over here? I know some will have the debate about it's better keeping them alive to make them suffer, but knowing our system, he'd be out in 20 years. Does anyone think that if we had serious punishments like that, half the crime would stop? For all the proper, proper bad crimes, I wish we had much steeper laws, and as I say, I reckon a fair bit of crime wouldn't happen. Burglary for example, not a slap on the wrist, give them major sentences. And if a burglar comes in to your house, you have the right to shoot them dead, and in my opinion, you should get rewarded for your actions.

the country is full of limp dicks who stick up for pedos and other sex offenders for example that say they have human rights... well imo u give them up once u commit a rape or pedo crime. fuck em firing squad or get the gas out hitler style, as said above this sort of punishment would make people think before commiting the crime.

Of all the places to try and do that, surely the UAE would be the bottom of everyones list?
Theyre failry well known for not taking any crap and coming down well harsh on "toursists" that dont abide by their laws.

Either that or the population would hugely decline, which imo would be a good thing. might also stop illegal immigrants from coming in and committing crimes and sucking up the tax we pay to!

He's obviously disregarded the risk/benefit scale though. Couple of grand versus being dead.

We need harsher punishments, for sure. But the problem with the death penalty is executing someone who was wrongly convicted. I'm not sure it's so much about human rights.

Drugs should become a non-profit trade imo, thats all the government are bothered about really, the money people earn and the governments don't.
I have no sympathy for people trying to make money from drugs, serves them right for being so unsporting about it
