May have heard much about this but taken from BabyBMW

Here's a video of my 1M being stolen a few months ago at 3am. They smashed a small area of glass (No alarm went off), used a device to reprogram a key fob trough the OBD port, then unlocked the car, pushed it off the drive and gone. In 3 minutes.

BMW can't recognise a problem with their cars. I can't understand why the alarm didn't go off, and why it only took 3 minutes to steal a £43,000 car. In the west midlands alone, 300 cars were stolen like this in March 2012 alone!

Enjoy.

Apparently is happening very often now

There's video's of people doing it online, Brett posted a link earlier.

As I've said before, BMW seem to have more problems and common faults that Vauxhall.

I still think that nothing beats a good old steering lock or those that go on the handbrake, yeah they won't stop your car from being taken but it will make it harder.

But then if i had a 43K car and cctv cameras id pay the 1K a year for a remote monitoring company to sit there and watch them cameras at night.

what i'd like to know is what happens when limited edition new cars like this get stolen?

obviously they can't go and buy another brand new as they only made them for a short time, so do they just get cash and have to buy something else?

its weird, as i imagine 90% of owners have only paid a few months rent on them by the time they are stolen.

Would deffo want to cancel the direct debit straight away if it was me.

Isn't that how it always works? You never get bought a new car, you get cash whatever the situation

i've heard of people with gap insurance being given a brand new car again. only if under a certain age.

when i say 'heard', i mean i read up on it on an owners forum shortly after buying my focus with gap.

Big plus point here...

That 1M, if found, will be worth about half what it was as it would be stolen recovered. Bargain for someone who doesn't care.

"BMW don't seem to want to admit they have a problem, even though over 300 cars have been stolen in March 2012 in a single UK county"

I believe now they have admitted there is a problem ?

Is an interesting common problem for the family at CS to list when people ask to buy a bmw.

at the time of the original post on BabyBMW was created BMW denied all knowledge

However with the ever growing list I believe they now have confirmed it is a problem

Both at the same time?? Would be pointless having the steering disconnected as you wouldn't be able to drive off to realise it had no steering.
