I have no idea why you would want to fit an old engine into a new car. Baffles me.

I see where ur coming from but 1.6 turbos have the number 4 piston issue and eat gearboxes for fun. Xe's have always done the job in my eyes

but why an old 2 litre engine from an old car which only makes like 150bhp? surely a 1.9cdti 150 lump will be faster, more economical, better and less hassle?

It has 150bhp, a Z18XER has 138bhp (150 odd with a simple map) I don't get it at all.

Just fit a VXR engine, I appreciate the work just utterly pointless

might have just been a project when they were bored. by the look of things i imagien theyve got a few vauxhall bits lying about.
i like it, the engines proabbly a lot cheaper than a 1.6t

Appreciating the work doesn't mean you can't have the opinion that it was an odd thing to do.

There is NOTHING special about a Z18XER.

The C20XE is a Vauxhall icon and I would go as far as saying its the best engine Vauxhall ever made.

Don't see anything wrong with it. Its just an engine, not as if he has spent thousands upon thousands doing it. Pretty cool imo.

Especially when the new car will be heavier than the original car the engine was from.
