Got a 2010 abarth 500 in white with upgraded alloys, red leather, glass roof, decals etc

2 years 1 month old. Needs a service soon, all discs and pads and 4 new tyres in 3 months or so

Rang finance company, want 8800 to settle it at the moment, or works out 9600 if its paid off each month and the ballon payment paid off after 3 years

Thinking of getting rid now while it has 1 years warranty left etc, part ex-ing it for a new z4 convertible

It usually best to do this now? Gonna cost a grand at least to keep it going, thinking its better to ex it before then and save some money?

All new to me!

Just looked up part ex going off what you said and it comes up as £9350. So you should be able to get a bit of a deposit towards your next car going off that. They might even give you a bit more than that depending what the dealer is like.

Say if the dealer gives you £9350 for it, they will then pay off the £8800 for you and you'll have £550 out of it towards the deposit on your new car.

Basically the dealer will sort it all out for you, go in and see what they say. I would be wanting £1000-£1500 over what you owe on the finance to go towards your deposit on the new car. They might not be willing to do that though.

The difference between 8800 settlement figure and 9600 balance outstanding is just the interest that you will no longer accrue if you terminate the agreement.

Same as I if you'd not borrowed the money you'd have not paid any interest. You only owe interest for the time in which you owe the capital.

think i'm missing something when people tell me i'm crazy.

Hope i'm not ruining or trolling the thread but fcuk me its money down the drain to drive a new car and feel a bit special for 2-3yrs

Just cos it's a fairly new car doesn't mean you can get away without having to fit new tyres and having it serviced though Consumables like you get on any age car.

Im guessing a Service at Fiat would cost ~200, ~300 for some ok tyres, ~200 for brakes, so even then thats only £700 give or take. Plus I struggle to see how a 2 year old car could need discs and pads all round

On an older car your more inclined to do brakes yourself and save 60 quid or so, get cheaper tyres, and have it serviced at smaller garages for £75 quid or even yourself for parts. Could do it all for £400 easily.

Tyres will be more than £300 for 4. I'd guess more like £500 or £600. Does seem odd having discs and pads at 2 years old but he doesn't say the mileage.

Abarth has 195/45/16 same as mine. Most expensive tyres in that size are about £100 fitted. Dunlop SP sport 9000's are 75 fitted each on black circles. £300 for 4 and not budgets.

Extreme end is Nankang NS2's for £50 per corner fitted at tyretraders.

It doesn't have to be done at a fiat dealer. Use any VAT registered garage to keep any warranty valid then your not paying stupid main dealer labour rates and parts prices.

Actually its 330 as a discounted price. 150 just for rear pads from one dealers

Parts are expensive, so getting it done at a vat registered garage didnt come out much cheaper

Its getting part exd for a new bmw, off to look at a couple saturday

500s cool, but gettin 30mpg over 14k a year and parts = expensive to run. Can run something nocer for same money, and bored of it after 2 years

part-x'd it on a new 118d sport convertible in silver with black leather. sensible option. 14k going up to 16k a year means wanted a nice small car cheap to run.

pulls well concidering its a 118, but 100 quid tax and 55mpg saves us about 1500 a year in fuel/tax alone

got 5 years servicing paid for too, so pretty much free motoring til we sell it
