As above, is it possible to replace pigtailed rear springs in favour of coilover front springs??

I.e use coilover front springs on the rear.....

You could but it will require quite a bit of work to make it fit.

I had it on my old nova, and a mate does currently now on his corsa.

They were shorter than most front coilover springs though

Why dont you just buy some proper rear coilovers like avo or gaz

I have some spares from a set of front coilovers, so just wondered if they could be used as rears.

Would deffo need chopped down. Would easily fit on the seats as the hole on each end is about the same size as the raised parts that the springs sit on.

rear springs are shaped like that for a reason, they'll only compress rather than bend.

Not sure if i was going to do it. Was just an idea (possibly a stupid 1) that popped into my head so thought i would ask.

I would imagine it would be pretty stiff also, as the springs don't have much movement in them.

Exactly what i was thinking Mieran, but without the adjusters. Infact, i still have the adjustable platforms from the fronts.

Fuk it, going to give it a bash. If anything, the spring rates might not be suitable seeing as they are for the front, with extra weight on them.

I'd move the turrent where top mount sits up wards, or make one.

Can't remember how the corsa rear suspension looks now

Done it, all seems fine. Springs are possibly a tad to stiff, so will see about getting some lower poundage springs. Any idea's on what would be fine for the rear?? Its fine for now, but something to look into.

Ive used the longer springs from the front coilover, and cut the threaded part off the strut so they can be adjustable. They sit tight in the cups, no movement.




Car is an Astra Coupe, not a Corsa, same idea though.

At that height as the pics are, i would say around -50mm, give or take. To go lower i would need to shorten the threaded part, or just remove 1 of the adjusters., but its fine at that height.

Could see the cavalier getting this treatment. I've got a spare set of FK adjusters would just need springs.

No, didn't cut the springs. It is an option but wanted to try it 1st with a whole spring to see what it sat like.

Will grab some pics.

Get it done Graeme, or fit some standard Corsa B rear springs.lol. I had them on the Coupe, they brought it down about -35/40mm, and the ride comfort was just the same as what it was on standard Coupe springs.
