What do you have? I've decided I'm going to start bringing stuff from home to save some money and also try and eat more healthily.

I'm thinking about chicken or turkey with brown rice or pasta and some sort of dressing/sauce.

Possibly with some fruit like grapes or a banana for a snack as well.

Any tips for keeping it healthy?

Cheers!

my local sandiwch shop does a large chicken roll with salad etc for £1.80.

I don't see the point in making my own for that sort of price. By the time I would buy chicken filler etc from tesco, rolls etc i don't think it would be that much cheaper if at all.

sorry if that doesn't help you , just my input. I suppose you might not get a roll for £1.80 in london though

I'd love a sandwich for £1.80

The likes of Tesco, Sainsburys etc do cheap sandwiches but they either aren't very nice or aren't very healthy!

I make my own stuff, changes daily though. Depends what im doing the night before / morning.

Today, I have a ready meal from tesco and 2 baps with ham and cheese on.

Usually I cook a chicken portion or two at night, and either stick rice / pasta with it, get some herbs and cheese on, and job done. Or if i'm in a rush can of tuna and rice, and some quick sandwiches.

Last week I was knackard every night after work, so ended up going to tesco every lunchtime, was spending £5-8 a day.

On a Sunday night I buy; 2 lettuce, spring onions, plum tomatoes, a cucumber, pack of peppers, wholemeal pitta breads and then either cook a chicken breast or boil eggs in the house the night before. Keep a tub of light mayo in work as well.

Had that every lunch time for about 3 months. If I make Sunday lunch, which I normally do, I'll make more homemade soup and take that in as well.

So today I had:

- 2 brown seeded rolls with M&S BBQ chicken pieces in
- A packet of low fat sour cream and chive crisps
- An individual portion of grapes.

I need to try and sack off the crisps, but hopefully the rest was fairly healthy. Although I bought it all from M&S so it didn't really save me any money.

I whip up a big batch of pasta on a Sunday that makes 5 portions. Sauce is usually pesto, creme fraiche, bacon, peas and onions. Also have some fruit, a yoghurt and a biscuit bar of some sort. Morning snack usually consists of fruit, crisps and a biscuit bar. On my feet all day so have to eat a lot.

You laugh, but I've pretty much had a bowl of soup and 2 tea-cake sarnies for the 8 years I've worked in the office I work in now.

Chicken wraps. I normally do a few chicken breasts in the cook in bags that I will use for 2 days. Chicken breat by it self with a protein shake.

I wouldn't buy chicken portions personally, cheaper to cook the chicken your self.

I religiously have some form of cereal of a morning then at dinner time i either have chicken and pasta, Tuna sandwich on whole meal bread or a sort of salad box which consists of tuna chicken lettuce and a bit of grated chese, pluss a ski yoghourt. this diet only happens on a week day. On a weekend i pretty much eat what the hell i like but do try to keep to my diet.

i tend to have a sandwich, two bags of crisps and some fruit. But times when I'm bored i'll stop for a chocolate bar, i work out on the road fixing plant, so i don't aways have time to stop for food.
