Are they shit? £129 seems good and a price you could sell on at easy enough judging by ebay.

Whats general web browsing on it like?

Apps is about the only let down, other than that they are decent and the build quality is spot on. Can't argue for £130 and it'll beat any Android tablet in that price range!
Edit - OS10 is also confirmed for the playbook, which could be a big step up.

Could you get rid of the Blackberry stuff and put android on it at all?
Seems very cheap for what it is
Saying that, the 16gb and 32gb are both £10 and £20 less respectively and they're only saving £80 or so, so the 64 was obviously very highly priced in the first place

I remember reading about an Android port on XDA but i don't think it actually went anywhere.
To be honest though as a web/reader it's pretty decent, only real downside is the lack of apps compared to Android/iOS (although there are still a few decent things to be had for their app store). Depends what you want from a tablet though.

An extra £270 is a fair old amount though; depends how important 'apps' are too you are i guess, even then there are still a handful of decent 'apps' for the Playbook.
Whittie - Get down to Curry's or similar and have a play with one, it's a bargain for what it is though.
Edit - If you want to view what apps are available, then look on AppWorld - http://appworld.blackberry.com/webstore/?

Just go and play with one on your lunch or buy it from PCWorld/Dixons/Curry's etc and take it back if you don't like it - simples.

I thought they will only take it back if it's faulty or unopened?

Phones, useful inventions them
Sam - I thought they all have a 7 day no-quibble return policy. Failing that, see if Argos stock it; they certainly will take it back.

It's the App store that lets it down, as everything else on the device is spot on. RIM are pushing hard for developers for OS10, so i suspect things will improve over the next few months.

Yeah big time. If it had the likes of Sky Go and Spotify it would be a hell of a lot better. Oh well.
It's a nice size and websites look so good on it / load quicker, which I like.
Not downloaded any apps on it yet.

I got one the other week, it's alright piece of kit for browsing, very well built. It hasn't got the apps of the ipad but then I suppose that's not the target market.

Went out and got one off the back of this thread. It's a nice piece of kit; well built, feels nice, great screen. And it works - the Blackberry operating system is responsive and intuitive and works. It's a ruddy bargain.
Having had three generations of iPad (vintage iPad 1, iPad 2 and the latest one) - I think the web browsing is actually better on the playbook than any other tablet / touchscreen device I've used.
App selection is poo, but if all you need is internets, email, facebook, twitter, linkedin with a bit of media player action thrown in for good measure, you can't really go wrong.

I have a new ipad and one of these, and they are not crap.
They're better than the iPad for web browsing as Rob, Dom & I reiterate above.
Great bit of kit in my opinion, decent size too.

I tried to play Doom on it. Didn't like it.
Wasn't interested in it enough to try it more

How does it handle emails - ie. what do you use as a client? From what I gather it doesn't have the same set up as a BB phone does?

Havent really got any tbh.The only thing I hate is no proper Twitter app and sometimes inserting the cursor to type is a pain. Supposed to be adding full bbm without using blackberry bridge in the next version update.
