I'm usually confident with this sort of thing and giving out advice but....

Start new job tomorrow. First 4 days at Head Office. Letter says dress code "Smart Business Dress"

Now normally for work (this new job is same job role) I wear trousers, shoes, shirt and v-neck jumper.

But i'm reading "Smart Business Dress" as suit and tie etc?

I'd do shirt and tie and hold the jumper.

Wouldn't wear jumper with tie anyway.

It's either suit and tie or jumper and shirt, no tie.

Was thinking of rather be over dressed than under. There's a few of us starting tomoz so if I wear suit and tie I can always alter for 2nd day if everyone else is more casual!

Was alot easier in hotels. Suit and tie at all times!

id chuck a suit on tbh, first impressions and all that. can always put your jumper on on tuesday if its appropriate

Wear a suit; you can always dress down from that point to shirt & tie or open neck shirt. Even stick your jumper in the car so you could put it on over your shirt. At least in a suit you have that option, it's difficult to dress-up anything else but easy to dress-down a suit, even as you're walking across the car park

shirt + tie and carry the suit jacket in, regardless of the dress code you wont look like a plonker and will have both corners covered.

Going with suit and tie. As said, better to be over dressed than under, and I can alway dress down the he other days if appropriate

I've just finished my first week in a big organisation head office. Suit all the way mate! Most other workers are just in shirts and trousers, but suit up when they have meetings with external customers or big head honchos. I've been told by the guy mentoring me to keep the tie for at least a couple of weeks
