I would be contacting your energy supplier asap, to get a new meter fitted otherwise you could be landed with a huge bill.
I believe it may be in the small print that you must inform them of a meter thats not working.

cant say I ever check my meter, so wouldn't bother me if mine stopped working.
Leave it until they realise, its not your hardware, its theirs.
Also, how do you pay Russ?

Lots of people take monthly readings Bart so will be in checking the meter every month.
