If you got a note through the door from the Royal Mail informing you that someone had sent you something, but hadn't applied sufficient postage, so you were going to have to collect it and pay £1.19, what would you do?

option 1.

Just because the sender didn put enough postage on (19p short) the cheek of handling fee (£1) by royal mail is disgusting just to take it back to Sorting office.

I'd pay too, because as said it's only a pound and I'd want to see what it was.

My dad on the other hand is refusing to collect his letter (or whatever) on the principal that he shouldn't have to pay anything

I'm guessing its an Xmas card! I have a relative who never puts a stamp on their xmas cards and every year we have to pay to collect it

Yeah, my dad reckons it could be a Christmas card too. He's just so stubborn when it comes to money though.

Once he was told he would get a tax rebate of £21.01, but when he received the cheque he only got £21, so he sent a letter to HRMC and demanding his 1p and then invoiced them for an extra 47p to cover the cost of the stamp and envelope

I do think he was a bit of a hero for that though

I had one a couple of weeks ago for work. I got to the sorting office and handed my slip over. When the bloke brought it to the counter I recognised it to be from a supplier and would only have been a catalogue so I told him I didnt want it and left.

Bumping an old thread.... But we got one of these through the door and my Dad isn't interested in the £1.50 charge

So I'm going to get it after work on the premise that I can keep whatever it is.

Expecting an envelope stuffed with cash...
