Anyone read this blog? I stumbled across it this week and it has an awesome course to help you develop your photography when using flash.
I read through the first few pages last night and I'm going to start working through the basic assignments this weekend. They look pretty easy to start (just to get you to understand the very basics) but some of the pictures people were producing by the end of the first main assignment look stunning
Anyone else fancy giving it a go? I thought we could get a few CS photographers involved and share the progression via this thread. Its aimed at both N00bs and seasoned pros so hopefully everyone can learn/share something.

Well, I had a bit of a mess around this evening. I used this badboy as my subject
Final result after throwing in some flash filters
Background aint up to much but that wasnt really the point in the exercise. Learning to control the light and where it went was the main idea. This was acomplished with some card wrapped around the speedlite to make a snoot then another speedlite with a blue filter for the background

This week I have invested in some filters and some materials to make some DIY filter holders and some DIY snoots. I bought 600+ sample filters , some foam sheet, velcro and a stapler.
600+ Filters
Modifying materials at the ready

I was greeted by this little package when I got back to North Wales this afternoon
The power of these things blow my old Jessops flash gun out of the water! I accidentally fired one of them off at full power and blinded my dad temporarily
I had a little play with them before. The power is adjustable right down to 1/128. Even at 1/1 power the recycle time is amazing.
Setup (taken on phone):
And the end result (straight out the camera):

The flashguns? They are two different types.
The YN-560-II's are completely manual and the YN-565EN is manual and ETTL compliant (ETTL is Canon's jigery pokery camera to flash communication system)
