Gutted to read this!

http://www.pistonheads.com/news/default.asp?storyId=26839

At one point I had a blobeye STI PPP and my brother had a classic WRX and we both loved them... I feel like I'll have to get another one day. I think it's time to pay tribute and post your favourite Imprezas. For me, and I'm sure many other people, it just has to be the P1

It's because of the state of the latest one though. The performance is still amazing.

P1 is the one for me. Impreza was THE performance car I grew up wanting

Nothing wrong with the new design IMO.

They stopped selling them because they don't make sense anymore.

How depressing that a manufacturer is pulling a performance car because "it's uncompetitive in terms of CO2".

I saw a silver hatch at the supermarket today, didn't think it looked that bad tbh, much better than anything that had come before it bar the original IMO.

Unbelievable. Impreza sales dropped quite a lot (official) since they pulled out of the WRC. 22B was definitely the best in my eyes.

What SUV's do they build?

I did a fair bit of reading into the history of the Impreza when looking to buy mine - and from what I can gather the things which hurt them come down to:

2.5l engine in the 2006 onwards cars was made of chocolate and they couldn't revert to the 2.0l favorite because of CO2 regulations. The engine basically cannot be tuned without serious work which alienated the majority of the Impreza community.

The hatch was a major design change from the previous Impreza's and again alienated their fan-base - but also it was way over priced compared to a comparable hatch from other manufacturers. Maybe they would have sold more if we got the saloon version instead of the hatch:

Subaru UK have been taking the piss for quite a few years, buying in base spec cars and selling them for top premiums where the JDM cars, US cars and even other European cars were being delivered with a better spec for less money.

All that combined with the decline in requirement for performance cars, and the rise in TDI barge performance means there's little room for a 30k+ sports hatch/saloon with 19mpg.

The Impreza will live on through Jap imports I'm sure... but for now my favorite Scoob of all times will remain:

What a crying shame, P1's and 22B versions were always poster cars of mine, thought they were taking a big gamble when they switched to a hatch....looks like they lost

Such a shame

I didn't like the hatch too much when it first came out but it's grown on me loads!
