A mate can lend me an old iPhone (4 or 4s not sure) whilst insurance is sorting out my phone, only issues is that its locked to 3 and I'm on Orange.

Ive been googling for the last hour or so how to unlock and everything seems to be outdated or overpriced methods and i don't know anything about iPhones.

I could jailbreak it (he wouldn't mind) but would prefer not too. I don't mind paying either but i don't want to wait a few days or pay over the odds (£10/15 i would be ok with). Tried to call 3, got board after 15 mins.

its only £15? Some third party site said it would be £109 (i appreciate it would have been inflated but still thats a huge jump). Fingers crossed my mate was the original owner

All they do is get a code off apple, and its done. Takes around 12 hours, although mine took a few mins, turned it off and on.

Phone up and say you use it abroad, and you need it unlocked as you have another sim or some shite.

For some reason Three lock their phones in an odd way, they might need to send you a new phone. It is meant to only be about £15 though: http://giffgaff.com/unlock/three-reviews

Well bad news, 3 wont touch it, my mate bought it locked of eBay as a replacement for a stolen phone and they said needs to be the original owner.

Will have to make do with a trusty nokia 6210 until i can get my hands on a smart phone.

If you find the baseband version Toby, Setting -> General -> About, I might be able to give you a hand
