I seem to recall that when acquiring gifts from the internet via software that one may use with a green logo and a large letter 'U' in the middle of it - rather than allowing the software to automatically set d/load or upload speeds - you set the upload manually to something small and it will maximise the d/load better than the software will...?

Anyone have any better knowledge of this? or am I going a bit cuckoo?

indeed, wasn't sure if Ian liked the words being used on here tracking back to the site from searches as it's obviously illegal.

Nothing illegal about torrenting, using torrents or discussing torrent software; it's more to do with discussing copyrighted material.

Back to your question though, can't say i've ever heard of that. Back in the original BitTorrent downloader, it'd ratio the download speed based on what the upload was set to (idea was to get people seeding/sharing) but i'm not sure UTorrent has anything like that in place (certainly i don't have issues with my download set to 'Unlimited' and my upload set to '1KB/s'; yes i'm a leecher, get over it).

Tbh try it and see what happens.

uTorrent does let you set the download and upload speeds manually, but it does it automatically by default so I'd just leave it be.
