Ok, so I've found two reasonably priced washers, I know they won't be brilliant for this price, but any opinions on either? Both around £60, which seems good value.

Will be mainly used for blasting crap off the car, then will use bucket n sponge method and this to rinse. Also be used for patio and decking.

Karcher are (apparently) crap unless you pay big money for them.

I've got that Nilfisk one as a spare and its been amazing for the money! Cannot fault it

Problem is Kyle the cheaper ones don't have all metal internals and the plastic thread connections for the lance are shite.

I got a 3.55 from Amazons Black Friday for only £130 inc delivery and it's a water cooled motor with brass one click connections. Brilliant. Personally I wouldn't buy a cheap washer again as it's false economy.

I've always wondered, and I assume not, but do they have tanks in them or do you have to hook them up to a tap? Do they connect to any tap if so?

I realise this could be a bit of a blonde question

Yeah indeed - I read somewhere that the cheaper Nilfilks come with metal internals, the only downside is the plastic connector for the hosepipe, but a generic brass adapter can be bought from B&Q which sorts it.

The better Karchers are the way to go, but if you're spending less than £100 - Nilfisk seems the way forwards....

After having 2 £80 Nilfisks fail after a very short life, we got an £80 Karcher which has had an equally short life. I think we'll probably be getting something a fair bit more substantial next because £ per litre, the cheap ones are costing us a fortune.

I'll be honest, my Nilkfisk needed replacing after exactly a year... but that was my own hamfisted approach to crossthreading just about everything in sight

I got a replacement unit though with no accessories, brand new £30

Bought an £80 karcher about 3 years ago on offer (think was around £100 normal), been nothing but good for its whole life, still works fine now.

My Nilfisk is still going strong 3-4yrs down line but was couple of hundred quid.

Next for me is a husqvarna same as a Nilfisk but with brass internals.

i paid 80 odd quid for a karcher and it failed within a few weeks, i have a £15 from argos which i got about 4 years ago and it still works fine, it even bellowed out smoke once but still works as well as you need it to for cleaning a car

Iv got an old karcher found in my granda's garage, little wee thing but works spot on. Debated about going for a newer karcher but while this thing works fine Il just stick with it I think after reading how they are nowadays

It comes with a detergent bottle but proper snow foam lances will fit onto it as well
