Had my first small bump today. Fortunately she was OK and there was minimal damage to her bumper. It's my first one in 8 years . We've exchanged details etc but what happens now with insurance?

My fault.

She was pretty cool about it all, we had a laugh at the end of it, so hoping no whiplash claim

The only thing to happen is money, its all about money now, making sure everyone gets as much money as possible from the incident and making sure the amount of money you give insurers is suitable now, they probably need more money because of this aswell. Lets just give out money to everyone thats in the slightest bit involved. I think one day witnesses will be claiming money because they had to see an accident and live with the trauma, no worries, give them some money, fixes any trauma or mental issue that may arise, sore neck? Have some money that will fix it.

You wait until the sh*t-c*nt legal vultures get on the phone to her promising here a villa in Dubai and a million rupees!

Also its always worth trying to settle out side of insurance if the person isnt a norman.. Theres no law that says you must use your insurance.

If someone who'd hit me said that then I'd take it to the full extent I could tbh, neck would be killing me. It's for me as the injured party to offer that easier way out for their negligence, not for them to effectively blackmail me with a potentially higher premium the following year.

Also, don't make it sound like blackmail.

I just meant try and explain that its in her interests to avoid insurance.

Appreciate it sounds a bit blackmaily but its also fairly true.

Also I agree with Jim and Davey - it is all about money.

The likelihood is that she's already contacted them and you're already going to pay grands for it.

My sister crashed my car, insurance went up a grand and lost my NCB, was gutted!

To add, we offered to repair the other car, had a scratch to the bumper, he slammed on in front of Her she was too close and hit him, he instantly said he's going through insurance, 5 people in the car...

my girlfriend was on a driving lesson when someone went into the back of her, wasn't much damage to the car just a slight kink in the boot lid, the other driver fully accepted the blame, the driving instructor gave her phone number to his insurance company and they rang her offering her £1000 without any medical evidence or even going to the doctors, she didn't even think about making a claim it was them that contacted her

Yeah, she couldn't afford insurance so I put her on mine and 2 months later she crashed
