Went to the gym on thursday, just weights again, no cardio. Finished the session and got a headache on the back right side of my head. It lasted for about 10 hours, since then, whenever I do anything strenuous I get this headache again. Went to the gym again this morning and it started again and i've still got it now.
I'm well hydrated, eat well, dont drink or smoke and perfect weight for my height.
I'm thinking of going to the docs tomorrow, I had my blood pressure taken the other day and it was 144/85, which is up from 125/75 about 6 months ago.
Am I fucked?
Joking aside, I am slightly worried i've bust a gasket in my head or something.

I was going to suggest hydration but sounds like you're ontop of that.
Never heard anything like that.

It could be something called Primary Exercise Headache but as I'm no doctor I can only shoot in the dark. I feel absolutely fine apart from this headache. It's been 12 hrs now. It seems to be triggered by increasing my core blood pressure.

could be not enough oxygen getting to your head due to poor breathing?
I know I have had this a few times but mine only lasts a few hours not 10-12.

I tried changing the way I was breathing but I get the headache on the first exercise (leg press), as soon as i do any exertion. Called docs today but no appointments, I'll try again tomorrow.

Its the occipital bone, usually caused by tight neck muscles. usually caused by not warming up properly or poor form on certain moves. yes you can hurt your neck doing leg press if you are straining
if its not that area then ignore me completely

Just googled that, on a bodybuilding forum a guy had something similar so you could be onto something. I'll rotate my order of equipment and start on biceps curls and abs which should bring me up to temp before I hit the heavier stuff. Cheers Russ x

When you say you are properly hydrated what do you mean?

Well, I drink 750 ml of water 3 times a day plus 6-900ml of milk, couple cups of tea and couple glasses of juice.

Milk has litte bearing, drinking Tea actually requires you to drink more water and if it's fizzy juice same again.
I know a lot of people that get pounding headaches for hours after playing football indoors, myself included sometimes, which is normally stopped by drinking a pint of water half an hour before playing and drinking it again straight after.

For you, Russ I'll go naked
Anyway, I rotated my routine tonight and whilst I've got a very slight headache it's nothing like it was the other day. I think the key is better warm up before I start.

I find a high caffeine or salt intake used to give me headaches.

Were you going straight in to lifting weights and not having a warm up fun for example first?

Yeah pretty much mate. Now I start on lighter stuff, like I have tonight, got no headache. Clearly that's where the problem lies.

I always go on treadmill first.
If not, I do a set with light weights first.
