hehe

I thought i had broken my collar bone (bones grinding / popping noises when arm moving) but it turns out that i've severed ligaments that connect my collarbone to my shoulder blade.... so my collar bone is now floating :S you can make a bump on my shoulder go up/down by pressing my collar bone I think the docs said it was a type 3 acromioclavicular dislocation.

I think I also dislocated my shoulder - couldnt move my arm much, arm was hanging very low, and i pushed stuff pack together and it made a horrific pop/bang :S blergh

I've done that to my right shoulder and did a half arsed job of doing it to my left. Had to have surgery to have the end of my collar bone chopped off last year on the right one but its still fooked

skiing, yeah.

not sure how, but ended up headfirst in the air and landed heavily on my left shoulder.

Any ideas how this fixes? do the severed ligaments grow back / reconstruct and tie in the collar bone again :S

I'm seeing a shoulder speacialist again on monday so will hopefully know more after that.

If the ligaments torn completely I imagine it will need some sort of minor surgery

I tore the ligaments round my shoulder and dislocated it a few years ago, basically my arm was held on by the skin. I had surgery through my arm pit to fuse something back together. I was knocked out for the pain I was in. Took me 3 months to go back to work though.
I did mine trying to do a flip over a railing when pissed like what prince nasim (sp) did. Except I never let go and was hanging from the railing as I couldnt let go.

They tend not to operate on grade 3 AC separations unless they become painful. Even then they tend not to reconstruct unless you're an elite sportsman or something.

What they'll do is send you to physio and try and strengthen the joint as you don't need it to be attached really. The ligaments don't reattach though so you'll always have a nub there, if it does get reconstructed then they tie it down with some rope/a bit of tendon from somewhere else in your body/a tendon from a cadaver.

I landed on my arm after a fantastic trampoline somersault months ago. Should really get an X ray of that at some point.
