My dads Rolls Royce broke down one day.
Rolls told the recovery driver to crash it into a tree before putting it on the trailer to prevent the public thinking it had broken down

We installed aload of machines in ford plants in the 80's/90's
Car came off the line damaged it was crushed so the comption couldn't look at it.
Some one at work has the negatives of workers going at them with heavy machinery etc to make them unrecognisable.

manufacturers do crush the early models that arent quite prototypes but arent road going models, probably where the rumours come from. i went on a tour of the bentley factory 2 years ago and saw a continental ss in a skip, true story.

Been in there myself picking cars up, and have seen this myself. Also shells that have scratches on just left ready to be destroyed.
