Crap night's sleep and early start to the days don't really make a good combo. I drink Coffee all throughout the day to try keep me awake but I think I'm immune to it now. Anything out there (not Monster/Redbull etc) that will 'wake' me up more? Sure I seen something on here few months>year ago but cannot remember what it was, iirc it was a red/yellow container?
What do you lot drink?

cut out the caffeine, you'll struggle at first but eventually get used to it. the best way to feel awake in the day is a good solid sleep at night.
i used to be exactly the same as you.

Get a strong coffee when you get to work, we have a pod machine here, its decent enough. After that, have water, you'll feel 100 times better after a week.

Don't drink anything caffeinated after about 4pm.
I used to be a caffeine fiend - Red Bull, Coca-Cola, Dr Pepper, Tea, Coffee - you name it, I was hoovering it up and never had any trouble sleeping.
Now I'm getting on a bit, though, I've had to cut down on the caffeinated beverages or I'm buzzing until stupid o'clock, which then means I need caffeinated beverages to get me through the following day, which results in crappy sleep, which results in more caffeine intake etc - it's a downward spiral!

I used to drink unbelievable amounts of coffee and red bull daily. Went cold turkey for about a month, was practically dead to the world by 3pm on the first monday, was irritable and felt like death, however as the month went on I started feeling better and better. That was about a year ago now. Drink water all day at work and when I do have a coffee I feel the benefits.

Also, coffee doesn't give you energy, it's a myth.
Anything you do feel from drinking coffee is pure placebo.
Coffee can keep your body awake, but not your head.
Sugar on the other hand can give you energy, but if you have a healthy diet and are gennerally healthy, you shouldn't need to supplement sugar.

If you stuff coffee/caffeine/sugar drinks down your neck your body's energy will be up and down like a yoyo.
You'll get instant bursts of energy from drinking the above, but will crash soon after.
My advice would be plenty of water (bearing in mind all the above drinks dehydrate you), and a bag of mixed nuts (slowly releases energy, but will do so all day long).
If your sleep deprived, your at a loss straight away, but the above should help a little.

when i'm on earlies, i have to get up at 5:30am and i find a good nights sleep is only accomplished by not drinking fizzy drinks in the evening and not eating too late at night.
also, spend an hour before bed resting, instead of watching tv/on the computer as it put's your mind at rest.

Not a myth, caffeine is a stimulant drug http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Caffeine#Stimulant_effects
OP, either go cold turkey from caffeine for 2 weeks and it will work again, although you'll be feeling extra tired for 2 weeks with headaches, or buy some of this like I do:

Coffee will dehydrate you too, so that is half your problem.
Drink decent coffee, 1 or 2 up to your lunch break, mixing it with your water. Then may be a cup of tea (counts towards daily fluid intake and has antioxidants) and then water rest of the day.
Best way for decent coffee at work is a Ł4 caffetiere from Tescos and some fresh ground coffee.
