Bought a fan heater a week ago, specifically described as 'silent' however it really isn't... it's very loud. I asked for a refund and to be fair there was no issue and I've got the money already.

However, this item cost £13 including delivery... the Post Office want £8 to send it back! Because it was basically false advertising (no where on the box does it say 'silent' it's just his own personal description) I feel like I shouldn't be paying to send it back. Can I request that the seller pays? If so how do I go about this, how can I prove how much is costs? His postage costs said only £1.50 on the actual sale.

Any ideas appreciated, this is the first time I've ever sent something back via eBay!

Check the users refund policy.

The seller isn't liable to give money back for postage costs though, just the item itself.

Isnt that only for refunds if the customer didnt want the item any more?

Surely he has been mis sold the item so the seller should bear all the costs associated and get the item picked up himself.

If he's already refunded you just don't post it back.

So it ends up costing him £8 and receiving nothing? That makes sense.

Keep the heater and the refund unless he agrees to pay postage.

If hes sending it back because its not as quiet as he thought then id be happy the sellers refunded me to bo honest! So many people out there to fuck you over and the product wasnt faulty its just not what he wanted so why should the seller have to fork out?

I wouldnt listen to everyone on here saying hes refunded you just dont send it back! Put yourself in the sellers shoes! Pisses me off everyone jumping on the bandwagon!

Thing is for the £5 it would ultimately cost me (the difference between £13 for the item, or £8 for the postage) I might as well just keep it for a spare... I guess honesty is the best policy and I'll just fire an email to the guy

tell him to come and pick it up. he's already refunded you so it's his problem.

maybe in future he'll think before he decides to falsely advertise something.

It's not about it not being as quiet as he thought, they are noisy and he's searched for a silent one, bought it, and it's a normal one so he's been mis sold therefore the seller should refund him the postage costs to send it back. If the seller wants to be an arse and not refund the postage why shouldn't he keep it... why should KZ be out of pocket by £8 because of the sellers mis selling?

The item cost £13!! A fan heater for that amount of money is made from the shittest parts! Course it aint going to be silent! Get what you pay for! Just kept the thing unless he pays for it to be collected, not worth the £13 to be honest

Well...

I sent the guy an email saying I think the return costs were unacceptable, and that he should provide the costs himself or send a courier to me to pick up the item. That was over a week ago now, and I've not had a reply, so I guess he's just decided to take the hit, score!

At the end of the day he's had over 36,000 sales so I guess one ain't gonna hurt him lol.
