I always assumed these were numbered by quality so:

SportContact2 < SportContact3 < SportContact5 etc.

5's are cheaper than 3's on Camskill for my size. Should I go for the 5's, or is my understanding wrong of the product line?

They are numbered by development order. As in sc2 then sc3 came out now on to sc5

Cheers Gents, I'll go for the 5s then.

My wheels would have come with 225/40/18 tyres from factory - but at somepoint a previous owner has switched to 235 tyres.

I'll save almost £150 across the set of four if I go back to 225, I don't want to downgrade on performance though based on the money that's been spent elsewhere on handling - but that's a lot of money for 40mm worth of rubber!

5's are stupidly soft, so soft in fact that I would go for the 2 or 3's before the 5.

The 3 is an excellent tyre.

I've read that too, lots of folk not happy with the 5s.

I've gambled and gone with vredestein ultrac sessantas... its the only tyre ive found universally strong reviews of despite them being a bit cheaper.

I've done the same with my Audi, gone for 225/40 instead of 235/40. The Vredesteins i've had on for the past 5k miles and there is not as good as my old Conti Sport 3s, they seem to tramline quite easily.
