looking for some advice with regards to how to remove this(to replace it with a new one),as It wont clear using the ever faithful pin.....

my car is a 10 plate sxi

It might be the filter in the tank, if your car hasn't got A/C it's a nice easy job, just pull out the motor, and you'll see all the crap clogging up the filter.
