Got into work this morning to be told to go to the briefing room & not miss the briefing. Strange...... usually they don't mind us missing briefings, but todaysone was to be done by one of our managing directors...... even stranger.
Non the less I sat there to be told one of our drivers had been found dead slumped at the steering wheel of his van the previous night from a suspected heart attack. My stomach turned & felt sick.
Here's a guy I was chatting to quite happily minutes before he went out on his route & now ill never see again. Its a wierd feeling to me & worrying that you can be here one minute & just gone the next.

He's not a person I knew particularly well, but always had a good laugh with him a work do's etc, but I just feel sick & empty.
He was on his own that night too, a majority of the time i'm on my own.
What would happen if something likethat happened to me???
Would hestill be alive if he was buddied up???
Something that we'll never know & it kinda sickens me

I know all this, but I think my work should be held partly responsible.
He had 13 drops on his own & it is heavy work. He should have had a buddy, maybe if he had had a buddy to alert 999 the instant it happened maybe he'd still be alive.

No im not torturing myself or feeling sorry for myself.
Its just something I wondered that ifhe'd had that buddy, they wouldhavethere& then rung 999, and maybe they could have saved him in time. Bbut he was found by a member of the public & hadbeen there for god knows how long....

death is a strange thing. you never really think about it till someone you know dies. then you take a moment to look at life and think about what could have been for you and the person that died and how his family feel. You don;t really know true grief untill a familey member dies. The media services guy at our work died about 12 months ago. he was ill and nevrer went to the doctors. you think if he had went would he still be alive. it passes.

on a lighter not. our group leader is off sick cause he is mad
