I think the use at least as good hardware but charge more for it.
Although a top of the range samsung costs the same as an iPhone to buy outright, I'd hazard a guess at most phone sales being on contract, where the iPhone is still the same price to the network, but the samsung will be massively discounted.

You can't just take that one line and boil it down to have one specific meaning.
For one thing, Samsung are spending a fortune on marketing. A lot more than Apple.

Sorry, not source, but shouldn't be too hard to find. Was on a lot of sites a month or two ago about a compared marketing budget.
Also, running the stores will not be part of the equation when we're looking at phones specifically.
Remember, they're talking phone business vs. phone business, not company vs. company.
The big picture is likely very different.

That's pretty poor considering they have over 200 phones on the market across every price range, demographic, and screen size compared to Apple's 3 tbf.
Also, I'm sure Apple will be gutted about not being able to sell products that have already been and are soon to be discontinued.

I'm not even an Apple fan boy tbf, half of Apples stuff is shit like iCloud and Apple TV and the only Apple products I own are a phone and an iPad that's battered and 2 years old

patents are a minefield, theyve both used the same technology but one of them managed to get a patent in first. that goes for both parties and various components over many years.
