Nothing too exciting this time.

Picked this up last week, collected it myself too.

1.2 TSi. 103bhp. Goes quite well tbh.

Anyway enough talk. Pics

Already removed bumper, has had a decent whack up the arse.

Bumper

On the jig

Gone straight over bumper beam, and took rear panel well in.

Wrap chain round to pull out

Improvise with an old bit of gas pipe to spread out the pull so it pulls a wide section out.

Trying parts on

Check gaps

(Anyone who has fit these lights will know they are SHITE. 1 metal clip that clips into 1/4 and 1 plastic nut on the back. PITA)

Old panel cut out and new welded in

Was a finishing panel to go on, then all painte and put together.

Ignore the pink/purple splodge, dropped phone other day and now that appears on camera

Job done.

Awesome as always Andy

Quick Q... Have you ever done the rear arches on a classic impreza? I've seen pics of a body shop doing it and the cut most of the rear of the car out as the rust starts internally quite deep!

That looks like a great job you've done there.

Thanks.

Nut (sorry don't know your name)

I can't say I have done any Impreza arches no, but chances are once the outer skin is off, the inner will be rusty/rotten too. Was the same with my Puma. I put some outer arches on it a month back.

i sometimes see modern cars and wonder if certain lines are meant to be there or the owner has just driven into a post, quite hard to tell what's a dent and what's a designer's wet dream

Time wise, few hours to strip, mount on jig, pull and change panel around 6. Paint around 6 again including prep etc. fit up was around 3 hours.

Better than the old cars like yours Jim where designers clearly just drew boxes.

Cost wise I think it was about £3.5k.

Have you got a old car o liner jig that you have to get a big fuck off trolley jack and put the wheels onto stands then slide under the jig. Used to be an arse when I was an apprentice and had to do that. Looks a nice repair. Presume just paint back panel inner/outer, boot and bumper?

Yep Graeme. It's a cunt to do I hate it

Since we are sure a small shop (only 7 workshop staff) no point investing in a newer jig with computer etc, we don't often use it that much. Usually 3/4 times a year. Although since we relocated just before Christmas it's been used around 10 times.

Paint was boot bumper inner and outer of rear panel and drivers 1/4 (had kinked slightly when pulled so had to fill a bit of it)

Don't really need to, can get stuff in at work for myself pretty much any time. If I can't, I have a friend who works for himself doing small trade cars, with home made booth. I often help him fit parts etc. so he will always let me get bits and bats in too.

I usually do services as well on a weekend at work if people want them doing. Brakes etc.
