I don't use eBay much at all, however, I've currently got a couple of items on there for sale. One of the said items is worth £200, and the other is £100. The auctions started 3 days ago, and they're running for 10 days in total.
So far, since 10 minutes after the auctions were set live, people have been outbidding each other by literally the odd pound or two. I honestly don't understand it (they're both currently at £31).
I totally understand that people want to get the item for as little as possible, however, so far, it seems like a fair number of people have put bids in for stupidly small amounts, on the assumption that they might just "win" the auction with it (otherwise why would they bother to bid on that occasion).
If people insist on bidding right from the outset, wouldn't it be far easier to just put in the price which you're prepared to pay, and then attempt to snipe right at the end if needed...rather than fight each other over a few quid to be the high bidder.
Odd
Cool story though bro

I bid a cheeky £500 on a fiesta Zetec S, got outbid £520, went on for a bit got it for £700 in the end, I only bid for the sake of it cause it was cheap, sold it 4 weeks later for £1300. Sometimes you do get it for the low amount so it's worth the bid.

I never bid halfway through an auction, just wait till the end. If it's still within what I want to pay I bid, if not I just leave it

i don't bid until the end - no point jostling with someone and pushing the price up...just bung what you wanna pay in at the end and outbid them - but get a cheaper price because you havent been bumping it up since the first day.

Sometimes bumping it up works in your favour though, because you price people out but still under your max your willing to pay, puts people off bidding if its less of a bargain. It's just about being tactical.

I bid what I'm willing to pay near the start then ignore it. Never get into a bidding war then

I snipe my max with two seconds to go.
Usually this wins it and has the second benefit of if I don't I haven't got time to "bid again" and get carried away paying to much just to beat the other guy.
I'm one of them Muppet's who can't help getting carried away so this way I can't.

I bid towards the end, provided it is still within the price I am willing to pay. Anyone that bids before the last 15-20min is an idiot and deserves to be ripped off.

I always bid on the last 3 or so seconds, literally no idea why people bid hours or days before.
