Always interested me with the whole concept of having a 2 seater car.

Think its a good idea?

What would you go for if you had say 3k to spend? Bike powered one?

Would it require alot of maintenance etc?

buy one which is already IVA'd and then strip and rebuild if its your first kit car rather than ground up from a new kit. Quite a few tatty ones on Pistonheads etc. which would be in budget; are already registered and wouldn't take huge amounts of work to turn around.

The majority of MEV are only available through Road, Track, Race in Nottingham who I wouldn't recommend. 3k won't be enough either

If I had 3k and wanted a 2 seater, I wouldn't be buying a kit car.

Honestly, go for an Ultima, by the time you spread the cost it doesn't seem too bad.

I want one

They reckon it can be built for £2k, if you sell enough of the MX5 donor and its available from Mills rather than RTR

Built up kit cars tend to go for a bit of cash due to the work folk put into them.

You may be better buying an old MX5 and modding it a bit

You've still got the hassle of IVA then. Buy one that's already gone through SVA/IVA and is registered but needs work. Plenty of half arsed jobs out there which must have scraped through SVA as was.

I so want to do a kit car within the next few years. The thought of building a car without fucking around with seized bolts gives me a boner.

There's loads of half finished kits available online and you save a fair wedge by doing it that way, but I'm pretty sure I'd want to start from scratch.

Kit car will be my next thing I think as well. It's either that or an old mini.

Westfields, locosts and sevens all seem easy kits to build and if you do get stuck then there is a lot of info on them and the companies have a good after sales.
Very fun to drive.

You'd need more than that to get something worth having i'm afraid Munch

Reducing the 'death trap factor' is quite a costly exercise.

3k will get you a car, won't have a decent engine, but if you want it for the open air experience it will be ok.

you could always build one from scratch like mine,

total control over what goes into it then.

I would rather lose by a mile because i built my own car, than win by an inch because someone else built it for me.
