do the prices of flights go up and down or do they just go up the closer you get to that specific day?
i looked at flights for the 13th of this month yesterday and they were £116 then i looked today and they were £156.
any chance they will go back down?
cheers

Only if seats don't fill. If it's a flight to somewhere popular they'll only increase.

It's all a gamble. Even if you leave it to the last minute in the hope that prices drop, they might sell out and then you're fucked.
When I was looking for Antigua flights, there were only a couple of carriers that offered direct flights. I figured it was safer to book now and risk paying a premium than wait and risk having to get an indirect flight.

Going to depend on the airline, they're going to do anything to maximise the money that plane makes that day. So it might make sense to bring the price down if its looking like its got empty seats. Although I would think once they're up they stay up to take more money off people who leave it too late.

I'm pretty sure that nowhere can offer better prices than going through the carrier directly.
Using comparison sites like http://www.skyscanner.net just shows everything on one page, it won't actually get any better rates. It's also useful if you have a complex route that involves more than one carrier.

Try clearing your cookies for that site and it might go back down. I have heard before that the cookie stores info so each time you visit, it puts the price up a bit. One of the guys I work with had first hand experience of this when booking a flight. Give it a go

I find prices vary depending on trend of how many times its being booked
When we booked my Stag doo last year flights went cheap - 10 of us booked flights then they went up by nearly 50%
A week later they came back down and the rest of the guys booked them
However within about 2 weeks of the flight they will remain high and get higher i suspect
