Who's got one? Haha
My lower back is absolutely horrible at times. Being a mechanic doesn't help it out
On the way to Birmingham to see a physio as I write this.
Anyone have or had one and sorted it? If so how?

Not a permanent fix, but the deep heat pads (or cheaper alternatives) are great for getting through a day at work with lower back pains.

I had constant cramp for about 6 months in my shoulders and upper back, I was given some capsaicin cream, which is a chilli cream, it basically destroys the nerves that deal with the pain, so I still have cramp but I can't feel it.

Had acupuncture and physiotherapy on my lower back as I regularly suffer from pains/stiffness of the muscle that run next to the spine.
Seemed to work well. I absolutely love the sense of relief when he cracked my back.
It'll always come back doing manual work though. Just got to keep doing the exercises they teach you.

I have 2 prolapsed discs and 2 fused vertebrae. Don't take bad backs with a pinch of salt. If you genuinely have a problem ( unlike a lot of people on benefits) get some medical attention on it before it esculates.

Seems to run in the family for me. I've never really had a manual labour job so no real excuse
It's not given me issues for a while now, but worst I've had was a couple of instances of sciatica - first time missus drove me to hospital early in the morning as neither of us knew what it was and my legs were in agony... couldn't move them etc.

Proper sore lower back, extends to the top of my left leg after a hard day, had it for about 9 months, don't ever remember it pinging one day just sort of got bad.
probably work, I sleep well, doesn't ache out of bed.
Being 12 stone and not very big, but handling 50kg boilers every day is my diagnosis

Had a very bad accident in 2003 and still affects me now.
Up until a few years back I was having regular steroid injections into my spine to help with the pain but they stopped me working for a week or so and was contracting at the time and couldn't afford to miss all the time.
Was at the end of my tether, literally was in bed screaming in agony unable to sleep or move, constantly having prolapsed disks so had to find a fix. What I have found to work has been to go to the gym and strengthen all the muscles in my back. Have only had minor niggles in the last 2 or so years so much happier in life generally now too.

Im planning going to see a physio later this month to see about my back, and find out what I can do to prevent it getting worse.
Working as a mechanic offshore and then working on the farm when Im at home hasnt helped me for years

I pull my back out all the time. Used to do a manual job but now I am office based. The 3 times I've pulled it out I was just doing regular things!
Been doing more lower back work in the gym the past few months to build up some more strength there.
How tall is everyone incidentally? I'm 6' 2, my dads mate always have back issues and he is over 6' and a guy at work over 6' always had back issues too.

Mines a bitch at times. Physio (family friend) works wonders at times when it's hurting.
Sound like a right old fuck when I tell people I understand why they say look after your back (although mine wasn't through ill treatment; cycling crash )

I fucked my back up after a crash in May, hit a house & landed on a kerb on my side of the car, couldn't walk properly or even stand up straight for weeks. Was prescribed Phorpain & it seemed to dull the pain off a lot.
What fixed it was when I finally managed to get back into a rally car (which was a physical struggle), jumped a Mk2 Escort 5ft into the air & the landing put everything in my spine back into line/normality.

I'm only like 5ft 8 or something.
Right. Just finished my 2 hour drive from back Birmingham.
Had my back and neck re aligned, had all my muscles worked to the fucking maximum, Can't even explain what he did and how much it hurt, to try loosen up my back.
Went away with the following results.
I need a MRI scan on my hip (suffered from purthaze disease as a child and it seems like its working its way back)
Got a damaged lower disc (can't remember what disc he mentioned)
And I have a hour a days worth of stretching and exersize to do to stretch and work my back muscles around the side of my spine and the muscles that run down the side of my abs
Going back in a few weeks once I've had my MRI scan aswell

I'm roughly 6' 4'' and have had whiplash three times in the last twenty five years or so.
I also work (or did) as a mechanic, so enough said from what i've already seen in this thread.
Last December I hurt my back working on a Land Rover. Sucked it up and carried on. At 4am the following morning, I spent forty minutes trying to get off of my bed.
Went through the usual (MRI etc) and returned to work after only about three days off.
Spent every day at work from then until Feb on Cocodamol and anti-inflammatories, wearing a weight lifting belt, walking around like a zombie and intermittently wincing from the pain.
Things returned to a nominal/tolerable state by mid March when I started a new job.
Two weeks in and after helping the apprentice and the odd job man move two large gas bottles and several sections of stripped down, two post ramp, I felt not good.
Woke up the next day in agony and struggled into work. By lunch time I was shaking with a fever and could squirt the odd drop of piss in searing pain and if I really pushed.
Left work early, just made it to the docs and screamed the place down, trying to produce a urine sample.
It turned out the damage in my back was trapping a nerve or nerves so badly it was affecting bladder control and caused a urinary infection too.
Horrible journey home... take antibiotics plus two diazepam and two tramadol and sleep for twenty hours.
Wake up virtually paralysed and slightly incontinent
Doctors again, who LOSE my back specialist referral for over a month
Eventually start physio in May. Been signed off work ever since, struggling on SSP and am currently having Acupuncture and Pilates.
Still no real improvement, plus have put on a load of weight and have got to wait at least another eight weeks before they decide what they are going to do surgery-wise.
I have damage, bulging and dehydration to L3, 4 and 5, plus annular tearing and a trapped Sciatic nerve amongst others.
Life is shit.
Sorry for the essay folks.

So in summary, mostly everyone has back pain and everyone who thinks they've the worst is a drama queen.

Quite surprised how much there is in here actually Ben.
I have mine thanks to an actual injury and inept/incompetent health care staff and practices.
Really, I should have been up to King's in March and under the knife. Possibly the previous December.

I get twinges every now and then but lifting heavy objects all day doesn't help.
I always get pain in my lower back when running, someone said its the muscles getting used to the exercise, all I know is it stops my run when it comes on. Being overweight doesn't help.

My whole family (and especially me and my brother) suffer from bad backs and necks.
It really drives me mad sometimes... the most annoying aspect for me is that I'm never able to work out for more than a couple of days then I need like a week off to recover
It's not like I go in hard or anything either.

Only back pain I've ever had was when I tried to do a Swanton Bomb off a parasol in Mallorca after I had been boozing for 24 hours and luckily landed on my back rather than my neck

Broke my back in 2 places when I was younger from a motorbike crash and have about 70% feeling in one leg.
Gives me a bit of shit and aches a bit but find that tens machine works really well and loosens the muscles in my back niceley.
Always just get on with it as could be alot worse. Never let anything stop me. Find that weight training to keep the back muscles and more importantly your core and stomach muscles help.
When you bend forward its the muscles in your core that hold you in position and takes the stress off your back.
