Tested other devices connected to your router, i.e. is it the macbook or router at fault.

So all other devices connected to your internet is fine, just your MBA?
Can you connect to the routers admin page (might mention it on the router, or it could be http://192.168.1.1) from your MBA?
If yes, then it sounds like a DNS issue - check to see which DNS servers it's using (i believe it lists them in the Network settings panel).
Could also try Google's DNS servers, need to enter in manually, as see if that makes a difference - https://developers.google.com/speed/public-dns/
If you can't connect to your routers admin pages then i'd remove the associated wireless network from your settings, reboot the MBA and then go about connect back to your wireless network - could be a bodged settings somewhere.

When you go into network settings, is there a location drop down at the top? Is it set to current or a past date?

just says Location: Automatic, the only drop down is to edit locations (under which is still only automatic, or + - etc)

Automatic is fine I think. I've seen similar happen before when it's jumped to some other location.

Try clearing the wireless settings and removing the password (etc) from the keychain.
Otherwise have a look here - https://discussions.apple.com/thread/4490149?start=0&tstart=0 which lists a few more solutions.
