Still can't watch much about this. Makes me feel sad. Rememebr watching the second plane hit live and thinking WTF. Then the presenters slowly realised what had just happened. Was sickening.

Remember watching it in Cyprus. Was watching a film in hotel lobby area. It was turned off and I was raging (possibly Jurassic park 3) and hey out this on.
The room just filled with people and was a complete silence

Awaits conspiracy theorists who are experts because they watched a one sided video on YouTube.

I don't and never have done the whole "be quiet for a minute" as that shows respect.
Don't need a single minute to remember what happened, and being quiet certainly changes nothing

Why? Because I don't let one certain day dictate when I should remember?

Was teaching, one of the other teachers came in to my class and asked if I had heard. Went in to his class, chopped the plug off a keyboard to use an an aerial in the TV and watched it unfold.
Didn't really feel much on the day, the true scale of events came later.

I wasn't trolling or trying to be awkward. It's my feeling on the matter raised.
I forgot you can only type on the Internet if you entirely agree with what's being said.
But as you wish..

I remember getting home from school and putting the TV on like normal.
News. Next channel. News. Next channel. News. Hmmm this is odd, something big has happened, better watch this. Still seems surreal even now.

I remember coming home from school and being pissed that there weren't any cartoons on any of the channels
Couldn't quite grasp the gravity of the situation at 10 years old.

I'd been in an Art exam in the afternoon and got told as I was getting on the school bus by a lad who said 'Have you heard about the plane that crashed into the twin towers'. I thought it was a joke so waited for the punchline, then the driver put the radio on and it was on every station constantly.
It was the fulcrum of some of the most life defining points of the 21st century - in the same way as people of the mid C20 remember where they were when the moon landings occurred or when JFK was assassinated; so its ever likely to be an on-going topic.

I was working in a TV & Hi-Fi shop in London when it happened.
Was stood there with my mouth agape, watching it all unfold on about 40 television screens from the moment the first news-flash hit.
The chap who converted our DVD players walked in with a fresh batch and couldn't believe his eyes. He was a big fan of New York and had visited on numerous occasions. His favourite bit was the viewing platform/lobby at the top of one of the towers. He even had his pictures with him.
The pair of us just stood in silence, staring at the TVs for ages.
I'll never forget the shock and dismay I felt when the first tower actually collapsed.
Again, still feels so recent. More than a decade has pretty much vanished without trace.
Plus, all these years later and we've still got the same sort of insurmountable problems with the same sort of nutters.

Why is everyone having a go at Generation? All he's saying is that he feels that a minutes silence is an odd way of showing respect. What's wrong with that? He hasn't said that he doesn't agree with remembering the ever and respecting the lives lost!

The impact that this event has had on the world and normal people has been huge.
No matter your view on the 9/11 issue, its causes, the wrongs and rights or conspiracy theories. Its worth noting that in addition to the 3000 people who tragically lost their lives the following
I've tried to take low figures, and I think most people or of the opinion that 9/11 was the catalyst.
Iraq War (from the wikileaks cables - 2010)
"Civilian" (66,081 deaths)
"Enemy" (23,984 deaths)
"Coalition" (3,771 deaths)
All the above figures have increased since these records (civilian is at least 110,000, civilian now and 4,799 coalition).
Afganistan War
"Coalition" (3,372 deaths - one of which was a friend)
"Civilian" (over 3000 this year)
NSA / GHCQ spying, anti terror coverall laws, War crimes on all sides.
It was an horrific event that will be remembers and the impact of felt by many people for many years to come.
