Just put in a 2.0 16v, its less hassle in the long run and cheaper

Luke Thomas has one. Carribic blue, 1.6 16v, Mantzel Box, Turbo, running 14psi on standard internals. Silly arse.
Not bad, times were not that good but certainly kept on pulling up to the limiter in 5th (f13 box).

If you've got the money then you should probably think about Throttle Bodies.
If you don't want the hassle, get a C20XE.
If you want a turbo, get a C20LET.
Turbo'ing the 1.6 is an option, it just doesn't make much sense

i got a quote about 6months ago from Courtney sport for Turboing my 1.4 16v engine...
they said theyd also put a mantelz power box and new ecu on as well includin labour and new brakes for £3700...£100 cheaper than a recon'd 2litre 16v conversion from them...they said i should get a reliable 140bhp and 150lbs of torque from the turbo 1.4 16v (so similar to a 2litre...but lighter=better handling!)
but i decided not to as its not worth the money (especially as i could get a 2litre conversion for a fraction of the price) and the hassel of a blown turbo!!!

No i dun wana do it, it's just my mate told me about it (he's a mech and changed 2 tyres on it or sumthin!), and said the lad paid £8k for all engine mods including pistons etc to take more boost but said he was suprised at the poor workmanship from courtney, all the turbo hoses etc were cut a bit shabilly etc.
Funnily enuf lucky b i was telling my mate how i'd rather have spent the 8k he'd spent on the engine on your whole old car
