Can you return a faulty item for exchange for a different model paying the difference, if I still have the receipt but not the box or packaging, item is a bluray player from curry's

Probably depends on the shop's policy, the person who serves you, and the way you ask them.

Buy another one, swap it over, they dont check serial numbers

They might check it's the correct product in the box. What about just putting a brick in it?

they will look at the item, They dont do this at argos its face value that its there.. and the same item.
