Looking for some suggestions for a new car as the Giulietta will be going soon

It's the least exciting criteria. Approx 8-12k, diesel, mid to normal sized, not boring but not crazy. So basically either a Golf or a 3 series

I don't want to miss anything outside of the normal choices plus could use some help with what models are good/bad choices. IE certain trim levels etc

It's a nice car but I've not been overwhelmed, the dealer network is pretty poor which makes it troublesome for servicing & warranty etc

Was expecting more out of it MPG wise too, the Fiat engines seem to go downhill rather quickly

I'm averaging 48mpg in my mito with the 1.6jtdm first generation engine... I can't see you getting any better in the real world from anything else!

Yep, especially a newer diesel peugeot 1.4/1.5/1.6 as we build them in work and they're capable of 70 odd mpg.

60mpg from my 1.9tdi golf mk5.

mk6/7 bluemotion must be in budget for 70mpg easy.
